Sep2003/Sep2005:                 Local Consultant Local Economic Development –LED                                                             

                                              Somalia. Duties and responsibilities:

                                            

                                            

·         Establishment of UNDP-RRIDP LED office in Borama Awdal Region

·         Carry out TDIM (Territorial Diagnoses and Institutional) need assessment exercises in major returnee focus areas (Villages) and district towns of the region.

·         Implement community sensitization for the local authorities (Councils, Mayors) civil society groups and the private sector for participatory development in their localities.

·         Organize and assist the formation of development forums from community level (bottom –up) to district level, such forms are to initiate dialogue, consensus and trust building for the full participation of all the development actors of each locality or LED territory.

·         Mobilization of the local resources for sustainable development and self- reliance

·         Design and develop for local economic development policies and strategies (short and long term) with vision and general objectives (as goals) for the implementation of kick-start projects that meet the urgent community basic needs.

·         Capacity building of Local Community Institutions, NGOs, and the private sector to enhance their management capacities of the local resources and labor market.

 

 

Aug1999/Jan2000:      Senior Programme Officer CARE international Community Based  

                                        Education Initiative (CBEI) project- Hargeisa

·         Facilitate Rehabilitation of 7 primary school and 10 family life center (FLECs) with community participation.

·         Enhance instructional capacity of 40 primary school teacher and 70 FLECs teachers though training.

·         Promote sustainability in the target schools and FLECs though strong community participation.

                                           BAT- LNGO. Responsibilities as follows:

·         Responsible of the overall management and administrative (day to day) matters of the NGO.

·         Identify, appraise design and implement the NGO project as chair of the executive board.

·         With the help of Programme directors, write and submit project proposals (quick impact projects) for possible funding to UN/Donor agencies.

·         Coordinate the NGO activates wit the UN/Local authorities communities and other civil society organizations (NGOs)

·         Monitor/ Evaluate the NGO implements projects.

·         Participate training workshops, advocacy and linkage establishments/ Forums etc in the name of the NGO

 

Sep 1991-Apr1997Community voluntary services in  Somaliland peace building  

                                        Initiatives  working along side the Guurti and others.

  • Active participant of the Somaliland peace building and conflict resolutions along side Awdal Guurti in the mediation of Burao, Berbera and Hargeisa conflicts from early 1991 to 1993.
  • Head of Awdal Professionals working with the Awdal Guurti in the preparation and hosting of the Somaliland Elders Peace Conference held in Borama Jan/ May 1993.and member of the Somaliland Secretariat of the Conference which culminated the election of the first presidential Government headed by the  Late President Egal.
  • Accomplished a lot of Community work as volunteer for example acted as a communication Link between Borama / Henley Friends Association 1995/7.
  • Founding Member of Amound University and member of the steering Committee in the establishment of this important Institution that pioneered the establishment of Somaliland’s vibrant tertiary Education.

 

 

Nov 1988/Nov 89:           Programme Director Somali Relief Fund (SRF)

                                          International   NGO Funded by the Islamic society of North 

                                           America. Duties and Responsibilities as follows:

                     

·         Implement income generation and skills development project in GEDO refugee Camps- Somalia

·         Implement a disabled Edu committee –based project for 100 disabled children’s education at KARAN District Mogadishu Somalia

·         Design Somalia implement M&E plan for the project

·          Plan staff training needs and organize relevant training programmers for the project field staff

·         Produce and submit monthly, midterm and annual report from SRF projects

·         Under SRF director organize strategic plan for next year development proposal to donor for funding

·         LADE SRF coordination with partner UN/ Gov’t ministries) and participate monthly relief and emergency meeting chaired by the national relief emergency commission affiliated to Ministry interior Mogadishu, Somalia

·         Over see and report about SRF relied Aid distribution in affected area of the county.

                               On Behalf the Ministry of Education responsibly for:

 

·         Design and submit to the Minister the Institution’s 5 years development plan

·         Direct and lead the over all management and administration of the institute.

·         With the help of the CTA and department heads plan the manpower needs and institution building of the institute for five years.

·         With the help of the CTA and department heads plan the yearly printing and production of educational materials, books, primers, newspapers etc.

·         Provide one-year training course in adult education and community development to 60 secondary school graduates each year.

·         Carry out community development (functional literacy) pilot projects in different rural situations; Agriculture communities, Nomadic communities,

·         Coordinate with Government departments, UN and International organizations which support the Institutes programs i.e. UNICEF; UNESCO; ALECSO; DVV; IDA, ILO; USAID; FAO etc
