The Unjust Transfer of the Ambulance of Erigavo Hospital
The Unjust Transfer of the Ambulance of Erigavo Hospital: A statement by the Sanaag Development Organization.
Sanaag Development Organization (SDO) is a newly established, non-profit entity. It is non political and humanitarian in nature. SDO was created by members of the organization after having been alarmed by the startling reports that came from the Erigavo Hospital. The Organization is dedicated to the development of Sanaag region and in its first phase will take the task to focus on the needs of the regional hospital in Erigavo.
It is widely known to all, that the Sanaag Region is in a dire need of all the basic needs of social development. It is also publicly known that the region experienced and continue to experience neglect and disparity of magnitude proportions. The appalling and shocking condition of the main hospital of Erigavo, which is the only one to cater for the whole region, is a public knowledge. The state of that hospital has been closely manifested in both prose and pictures.
It is unfortunate that the Ministry of Health of Somaliland, whose duties include the provision of the medical resources - be it human or material, to further aggravate the already grave situation of the Erigavo Hospital and relocate the ambulance that was one of the few resources that it had.
By transferring the ambulance of Erigavo hospital to another region, SDO is of the opinion that the action taken by the Ministry of Health of Somaliland is wrong and reprehensible. SDO unequivocally condemns it.
We further inform whoever made or participated in such decision that “it was uncalled for, lacked vision and was devoid of all aspects of good governance”.
This message is approved by SDO Board of Directors.
