Riyale’s Catch Me If You Can Games Continues
Riyale’s Catch Me If You Can Games Continues
Riyale is sacking Suleiman Mohamoud Adan to crown Ahmed Abdi Habsade. Now that he has lost the trust of the people who voted for him and changed his democratic entrance to the presidency into a meaningless dictatorship, he has no choice but to build alliance with those he thinks sit in the peripherals of Somaliland. We have seen in the past few weeks a series of failed incidents in which he tried to create clan conflict, polarization of certain conflicts, revenge arrests and senseless killings. This is another of those series of events that will likely fail. Here is a message to the Guurti (House of Elders), one to Suleiman Mohamoud Adan, and one to Mr. Ahmed Abdi Haabsade.
To the Guurti: if at one time your were lucky to save the country with some wisdom, today your are ruining it with your lack of vision, illiteracy and the vulnerability of your weakness that has given strength to Riyale and weakened the people your represent. You have broken the bridge to the democratic process. If Riyale used your vulnerability to get his wish, that warns the public there will be many more times of the same betrayal. If you have any conscience, resign and banish yourselves to the wilderness. Shame on you!
To Suleiman Mohamoud Adan: I feel so sorry for you because every snake you feed finally bites you. A friend of mine once gave me a good joke when he and I worked in the Somali Embassy in Washington at the end of Siad Barre’s Era and we witnessed two Siad Loyals fighting bitterly. My friend responding to my surprise told me: A man used to feed a cobra in a hole. Hard times hit the area and he could not find anything to give to the cobra so instead of just disappearing, he extended his empty hand to the cobra. It bit him and took a big junk of his hand. Surprised! The man asked the cobra why it bit him since he was feeding it for a long time. Her response was: ‘I did not bite you. It’s time that has bitten you.’ When Suleiman Mohamoud Adan was called to his chair in 2006 and was told to either agree to the extension of Riyale’s term of office or the bought Guurti will take a vote of confidence to oust him, he missed the heroic act to side with the justice and the public and thought his seat would be permanent if he go with the flow. Time now has bitten him so hard that he hasn’t lost friends but a whole public. How many times could you be betrayed by the men you served? Where is this going to lead you? Maybe it’s time you write a book about all your errors and mal judgements. That would be the noble thing. You will go into the history books as the well educated man who presided over ignorant house of elders and president but have been outsmarted by them. PITY!
To Mr. Habsade: I believe you came back for a Somaliland that you probably love when Cadde Muse failed you. If you have come back for the love of Somaliland and you find yourself sitting on Suleiman Mohamoud Adan’ chair, always remember your negative karma will be back to haunt you and like the cobra that has bitten Suleiman Mohamoud Adan, it won’t be long before it bites you. The office belongs to the public and not to Dahir Riyale and the Will of the people will prevail. I hope you are a man more astute than one manipulated by Riyale. If you accept that position from Riiyale first you have to know that: a) you have not received it on merit, b) it’s to manipulate your clan to serve his interest. Therefore if I ask you a question: Are you a man who would exploit his people for his own gain? If so, how does that make you any different from Cadde Muse? Peripheral or centre, Dahir Riyale and his mafia will leave and Somaliland will remain so err on the side of caution and side with justice and the public. Your heroism depends on your actions today. Keep your eyes on the real prize of heroism not on the price of the seat of Suleiman Mohamoud Adan.
